Description
This yoke jumper is knit in the round, from the top down, all in one piece – which means no sewing (yay!) and that you can audition the fit as you knit – get the right length for your body and your sleeves.
Start by casting on around the neck and knitting first the open-style neckband in a simple rib, then knit the yoke where the increases happen, then split for the sleeves, make the body, and the sleeves in separate steps. The jumper (aside from neck, colourwork, cuffs and bottom band) is knit in stocking stitch – and as we are knitting in the round, this means the stitches are all knit. The neck, cuffs and bottom bands are all in a rib.
Don’t be scared of the increases; they are surprisingly easy and we will do 3 rounds of them over our yoke section.
When you split for the sleeves, you will use a casting-on method to add stitches on the fly, and later pick up stitches to knit the sleeve and close the armholes.
I’ve opted to knit my shown version a little shorter (as I am shorter) than what is written as a classic fit in the pattern. You can make yours shorter too, or longer: you choose.
Sizing; XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL)
To comfortably fit bust; 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100)
100-110 (110-120) cm.
Please note this pattern is designed to have a loose fit (positive ease) of 5-10 cm. This means that if your bust circumference is 95 cm (measured around with a measuring tape), you should knit a size M that has a bust of 103 cm – unless you’d like a more slim version, in that case size down to a S that has a finished bust of 98cm without stretch. If you’d like a fitted version, you can consider sizing down again as the jumper will give and stretch.
Our model has sized down for a more fitted look
Finished bust sizes;
91 (98) 103 (109) 116 (128) cm
