CALLING FOR PATTERN TESTERS!

Introducing a Monique Knitted Top!

1st designed and off the needles back in 2021 – but forgotten about in the madness of the year.  I had taken this cutie along with a few other designs off (and on) the needles to my local knitting gang at Revology in Wanaka.  My core network of knitsters give me that straight feedback a girl needs hahahaha.

Monique is the queen of our group, owner of the stunning concept shop and maker of many things (including her own hand foraged line of yummy teas).  Monique took a shine to this piece, which I was unsure about, and when she tried it on… well it was settled.

But the time monster struck again and here we closing on mid 2022 and it still hadn’t been written up!  Thankfully Monique reached out to make her own, to make good use of time in her 2nd consecutive isolation lag as a household contact… and BOOM.. I got the pattern written up and it’s going on Monique’s needles today.  Should it be going on yours too?

This top down circular knit is made all in one go, no sewing up.  It features a couple of rounds of increases (and you can find the video tutorial for that here), they are nothing to be scared of – they are quite easy to get dialled.  And it’s got two easy colour work sections – which can also be subbed out for any colour work of your choice.  The pattern has you working complete rounds of colour, but in a combination of knit rows and purl rows to create the dots and dashes.  So this is a GREAT first step into top down knitting, yokes, colourwork and even your 1st knitted top!

Later I will update the pattern with alternative colour works for the yoke – and perhaps even a long sleeve option.  But right now she’s cute as a button like she (just like Monique).  You can adjust the body length to suit your body; with the magic of top down knitting you can even try it on to audition the fit.  Cool right?

The sample as shown, used just 2 balls of Sumptuous in 75grm (knit as a medium) with a small amount of contrasts – you could use up your leftovers here.

If you’d like to be the first to make this piece and help me shape the pattern language and finished design, please take a moment to read how testing works here:

How to be a Test Knitter for The Woven Co

I’d love 5 to 7 testers please, and I really really appreciate having the less experienced on the team, as it helps me create patterns suitable for your level.  Remember my goal is to make knitting less mysterious, more accessible, more achievable and more FUN!  It would be great to test the range of sizes, and I really need to make sure the scales work for all.
