This pattern is designed to easy and fun to make a classic leg warmer in one easy (no sewing) piece!

Use this as a template to add colours and flair!

One size, but it has an option for an extra slim ankle and advise how to adjust to a youth size.

Estimated Knit Time: Under 4 hours

Wool: Recommend Sumptuous

Needles: 4.5 mm double pointed needles, knit in the round

Skills: Knit, cast on, cast off, join in the round, knit + purl rib, k2tog (decreases), M1 (make one to increase), sewing up

Classic Leg Warmers

DPN 4.5mm

Approx 50grm per warmer, less if you skip the Fine Ankle Cuff

Fine Ankle Cuff

  1. Cast on 32 with a stretchy cast on (nb if you are not able to do a stretchy cast on and / or don’t want a fine ankle cuff, skip this step and cast on 48)
  2. Set your needles up as 10, 10, 12, and join in the round
  3. Work rounds of K1P1 ribbing, for 10 rounds
  4. Setup Lower Leg Cuff by working a round as; <K1, M1, P1> around to make 48 stitches in total

Lower Leg Cuff

  1. Work rounds of K2, P1 for 20 rounds
  2. Setup Body by working <K3, M1> around to make 64 stitches in total

Body

  1. Work plain rounds knitting for your desired length, I knit mine to #cm

Upper Cuff

  1. Work rounds of K2P2 ribbing, for 20 rounds

Finishing

  1. Cast off in rib
  2. Sew in ends and make a second one to match!

Terms

DPN = Double Pointed Needles

K1P1 = Knit one, purl one

P1 = Purl one

M1 = Make one stitch by picking up the loop between your stitches, using your left needle from the back to the front, knit the loop as normal

K2 = Knit two

K3 = Knit three

K2P2 = Knit two, purl two
